A note from our pastors

Welcome to Blount Community Church's website! This church is a result of God calling some of His followers to start a new church in Blount County that loves and seeks Him above all else and intentionally loves others by reaching out to those who do not have a church family. This is our mission: to love God and love others. It is clear and simple.

God made Blount Community Church clear to me (Jeff) in January 2005 when He constantly interrupted my prayers and began revealing visions of BCC. God did the same for me (Kenny) when He told me to pack up and move my family back to Maryville in 2007. And God continues to assemble a growing family who tries to follow Him and a team of leaders that seek Him in serving the mission of the church.

We realize for some this talk about God speaking to us and directing our lives may sound weird. That's okay. There was a time we would have agreed and found this weird too. In fact, even now, we don't understand it all. But the truth is, God is real and He speaks to us. If you stick around BCC long enough, you will discover this on your own.

We don't know why you have chosen to visit our site. Our hope is you are one of the many in Blount County who doesn't attend church. You may not have a peaceful relationship with God and are wondering about God or church. If that is the case, we have prayed for you. We have prayed that you would personally experience the love and peace that comes in a relationship with Him. Our church family is open. We invite you to come to Blount Community Church as you are. You will not be judged. You will not be embarrassed. Our goal is for you to experience God while being with us.

If you are searching for God and wondering if a church really has something to offer, God started this church for you!

May God bless you in your spiritual journey, Pastor Jeff and Pastor Kenny

How long have you been at BCC: Since the beginning

Hometown (Where I grew up): Maryville. I was born in Milwaukee then moved to Maryville as a child, but I grew up here and consider it home.

Family: Wife – Kim. Daughter - Sarahbeth. Daughter and new son (i.e. son-in-law) Katie and Josh Hughes.

Favorite Food: 2 chicken enchiladas, rice, and extra sauce from Los Amigos, Venison back-straps marinated in Dales steak sauce, filled with cream cheese, & wrapped with bacon, Chick-fil-A original chicken sandwich

Favorite Hobbies: Camping with Kim. Deer hunting. Fly fishing. Cooking on grill and over fire.

Favorite Sports Team: Green Bay Packers. I like SEC football. I’m an irresolute UT fan. For the most part, I’m a fan of individuals and not teams. Love Tim Tebow. Pretty sure I love Hugh Freeze. Dislike Steve Spurrier. Despise Nick Saban.

What most people don’t know about me: I like expensive sunglasses. Most clothes I wear have been given to me or purchased at a second hand store (no comments necessary).

What am I reading: Don’t want to tell you because you’ll think I’m a geek. Currently all my reading is for message preparation or required for school (I’m in Seminary again). Last book I read for fun was entitled Lead for God’s Sake.

What is currently on my playlist: Needtobreathe. 33 Miles. Zac Brown Band. Christmas favorites. Sports talk show. Classic rock of the 80’s.

    Life Verse: Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Favorite Bible Story: While the Apostle Paul preached a long sermon, a guy named Eutychus fell asleep while listening. The problem for Eutychus was, he was listening to Paul from a 3rd story window sill and fell out of the window to his death (Acts 20:7-12). Long-winded preachers can kill ya.

Favorite Sports Team: Whatever team my boys are playing on. I don’t have a favorite college or pro team.

What most people don’t know about me: Most people know me as a fun and sarcastic people person. However, there are some times that I would rather be alone, sitting on my couch, bundled up in a cozy blanket, with my IPad watching British movies, love stories or any kind of mystery.

What am I reading: Not sure if I am supposed to apologize here or what...I really don’t read...like ever! (I do read the Bible...but that is a "church" answer.)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.

Favorite Bible Story: OT story is Noah and the Ark. "Noah did everything just as God commanded him." To me it is outlandish to think that God put every kind of animal in one location for 40 days. The story is so detailed and real to me when I read it.

NT story would be the birth of Jesus. From the foretelling to the time when the wise men come...it is truly a remarkable story.
