How long have you been at BCC: Since the beginning, 2005.
Hometown (Where I grew up): Maryville. I was born in Milwaukee then moved to Maryville as a child, but I grew up here. Maryville is home.
Family: Married Kim in 1991. Daughter SarahBeth and daughter Katie who married Josh Hughes and gave us grandchild Henry.
Favorite Food: 2 chicken enchiladas, rice, and extra brown sauce from Los Amigos; butterflied venison back-straps marinated in Dales, filled with cream cheese, & wrapped with bacon; Chick-fil-A original chicken sandwich with extra pickles and a large lemonade with no ice since its already cold and I don’t want ice taking up lemonade space.
Favorite Hobbies: Camping with Kim. Elkmont in the Smokies is our favorite campground. Deer hunting with dad. Fly fishing. Cooking on grill and over fire. Playing with Henry. And my new hobby beside Henry – Gardening.
Favorite Sports Team: Green Bay Packers. I like SEC football. I’m an irresolute UT fan. For the most part, I’m a fan of individuals and not teams. Still love Tim Tebow (I know he don’t play no more). Lovin Carson Wentz. Pretty sure I love Cole Hamels. Don’t like Will Muschamp. Don’t like NBA until the finals. Despise Nick Saban and “the hoddie”.
What most people don’t know about me: I like expensive sunglasses. Most clothes I wear have been given to me or purchased at a second-hand store (no comments necessary).
What am I reading: "Goliath Must Fall", "Irresistible", and "Letters to the Church".
What is currently on my playlist: Needtobreathe. 33 Miles. Zac Brown Band. Christmas favorites. Sports talk show. Classic rock of the 80’s.
Life Verse: Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Favorite Bible Story: One time when the Apostle Paul preached a long sermon, a guy named Eutychus fell asleep while listening. The problem for Eutychus was, he was listening to Paul from a 3rd story window sill and fell out of the window to his death (Acts 20:7-12). Long-winded preachers can kill ya.
Ministry Experience: Began part-time Student Ministry in 1987. Full time Student/Associate Pastor in mid 90’s. Lead Pastor since 2005. BA in Psychology from Maryville College. MA in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. MML (Master Ministry Leadership) and DMin (Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership) from Rockbridge Seminary.
